Grab-and-Go Energy Bites

Swap your afternoon pastry for these no-bake energy bites. They will satisfy your sugar craving while boosting your energy with oats, peanut butter, and chocolate chips.

Snacks are a huge part of my diet. I’ll stash food in my glove box, my husband’s car, the gym bag, and of course, my purse. There have been too many times that I’ve been running errands and suddenly found myself hungry (*ahem, hangry). While sometimes I can hold myself off until I get home, I usually buy something that either causes breakouts, like potato chips, or I find myself eyeing the pastries at Starbucks.

I believe in balance and treating myself, but when my choices are driven by hunger I’m making an emotional decision, and will eat more than I typically would. This is because when we’re hungry our body is saying it needs nutrients, and we eat for satiety (fullness) rather than enjoyment.

For this reason, I make a couple batches of these grab-and-go energy bites every week. I throw them in my lunch bag to keep my energy levels up during the day, and in my purse to keep the hunger away while I run errands. This way I can pick up my pumpkin scone and eat it for pleasure, rather than to cure my hunger.
